Address: Ærøskøbing Havn 4a, 5970 Ærøskøbing
The Old Shipyard is focused on the Danish traditional crafts revolving around our maritime cultural heritage with traditional shipbuilding and do-it-yourself workshops for everyone to try.
We have a blacksmith workshop, a copper workshop, a knots and rope workshop and a pet-a-fish pool.
Get a glimpse at the restoration of the S/S Svendborgsund built in 1906 and the techniques from yesterday. Explore the old machines and read about them, educate yourself and do the ”13’s lottery”.
At the blacksmith workshop you can try forging the red hot iron, at the copper workshop we make runes like the Vikings and produce all kinds of jewelry. At the rigging loft we make rope, keyhangers and bracelets.
Several monitors show films about seamanship and crafts related to it. Occasionally the slip will be occupied by old ships to be restored.
